Dressage, Combined Training
& Show Jumping at Redlands |
7th May, Sponsored by
Tackstitch.co.uk |
Youngsters on speedy ponies dominated placings in
the show jumping classes at the May Show, which was sponsored by the Donaldsons
on-line tack shop, Tackstitch.co.uk.
Eleven year old, Charlotte Payne, ten year old,
Katherine Stell, and seven year old, Brittany Saunders, made quick work of the twisting
jump-off course to take the top places in the 2ft 3in Very Novice Jumping class.

Alice Burgess, thirteen, won the 2ft 6in Novice
Jumping on Regal Rex. Rex was also second in the Scurry, his time only beaten by Alices
other ride, Flaming Arrow.
James Saunders, another thirteen year old, won
both the 2ft 9in Intermediate and the 3ft Open Jumping, more than two seconds ahead of his
nearest rivals.
Adults came into their own in the more controlled
disciplines of dressage and in combined training and Sevenoaks Riding Club members were
well represented in the placings. Clare Mintos attractive Emerald Grey had the
winning dressage score and no jumping penalties in Preliminary Combined Training.
Jo Thomas won the Novice class on her own
Kruja Roslyn and was fifth on Du Bonnet, newly aquired from the Talbot family.
Bonnys top dressage marks were reduced by eight jumping penalties, so Jo who is the
organiser of the June show is entering plenty of jumping classes in July .
Sharon Swain riding Eau De Noir was the only
non-member to take a top slot when she tied with Eleanor Comer on Glynn Antrim in Prelim
test 7.

Jill Palmer was especially thrilled to tie for
first place in Prelim test 12 with Meryl Doran and Ottono, as her own Bobby Dazzler was a
rescue horse who has made great strides in training over the last year.
The ever reliable Pedantic and Sturtwood gave
Maureen McDonnell first and second place in both the Novice and Elementary dressage
classes.
