Area 10 Teams of Three Indoor Show Jumping Competition

January 2006

Sevenoaks Riding Club’s competition year began in January with team indoor show jumping at Golden Cross. Despite some overnight snow, the annual competition went ahead, with ten Junior and twenty-three Senior teams from affiliated clubs in Kent and Sussex.

The main competitions were run in three sections; novice riders, novice horses and an open section, each team having a horse and rider in each section. There were also individual placings in each section, allowing riders from clubs that couldn’t recruit a team to enter.

In the Junior Team class, Alice Burgess, riding Cracker, Khia Cadney-Moon with Out of the Blue and Laura Reeves on Hedra Hat all had clear rounds, putting them on level pegging with Hailsham, the only other Junior team to produce three clear rounds.

Those two teams went into the timed jump-off. Going all out for speed, the three girls each had a pole down, which put Sevenoaks into second position in the team event.

Other riders having clear first rounds also took part in the jump off, to decide individual placing. In these, Alice was fourth in the Novice Rider section, Khia was third on a Novice Horse and Laura was sixth in the Open section.

Khia had also been second and Laura fifth in the Junior Speed class, run as a warm-up before the team competition, so had a very good start to the year.

Out of the Blue had been un-tacked and was happily eating hay when the Junior results were announced which was why Khia collected her rosettes riding La Gioa, the horse that she was warming up for her mother!

The two Senior teams were not placed, although Marnie Moon did match her daughter by coming second in the Senior Speed class on La Gioa.
