Novice Indoor Show Jumping
Area Qualifier |
5th March 2006 |
Sevenoaks junior show jumpers won the qualifying
round of the Natural Animal Feeds Indoor Novice Show Jumping Championships. The two-round
team competition at Eaglesfield drew ten teams of juniors from Area 10 clubs.
The team of Laura Reeves (Hedera Hat), Khia
Cadney-Moon (Out Of The Blue), Alice Burgess (Rex) and Lily Gilbert (Lenamore Coco Chanel)
qualified the national finals in April at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire, as did the
second placed junior team, Canterbury.
The afternoons senior competition saw more
riders from the Sevenoaks area in the top six, but top place and qualification went to the
only senior team to finish on zero penalties; Christine Hartfield (Valemont Jasper), Nicky
Hill (Toby), Sara Jones (Nina) and Alison Ingram (Woody) of Ardingly Riding Club.
Second place went to Carol Cook (Budding Annie),
Lynn Bright (Max), Anne Etherington (Jasmine) and Janet Phillips (Silvern Conetta) of the
Bradbourne Riding Club. They were unlucky not to get a place in the final as two teams
would have qualified if the number of teams originally entered had not been reduced to
nineteen on the day.
Just one point behind them, on sixteen penalties,
came the Sevenoaks team of Jemma Clark (Barney), Cherry Brannon (VRB Lady), Sara Roberts
(Florentine) and James Donaldson (Ryan of Glen Carrick).
Fourth place went to another Sevenoaks team, Sara
Roberts (Mahoule), Marnie Moon (La Gioa), Clare Minto (Emerald Grey) and Jenny Streek
(Hamlet III).
All in all, it was a promising beginning to the
2006 British Riding Clubs competition season for riders from the Sevenoaks area.
Sevenoaks ran this Qualifier, so thanks to everyone who turned out on the day to help.
