Area 10 Novice Indoor Show Jumping Qualifier

28th November 2009

It was a clean sweep for Sevenoaks Riding Club at the Area Novice Indoor Show Jumping at Duckhust Farm near Staplehurst. Both a Junior and a Senior team qualified for British Riding Clubs’ Novice Indoor Championships to be held at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire at Easter.

The Junior team of Alice Somerset (Golden Island Star), Cori Longley-Coomber (Razzamatazz), Alice McCready (Reckless Ruby) and Rohan Cadney-Moon (Hallmark) were the outright winners after two rounds over fences at 2ft 6in and 2ft 9in being the only team out of seven to finish on a zero score.

Jr Novice Team

A second Sevenoaks Junior team, Kate Stell (Shabraks Gem Of Colebank), Eleanor Wilson (Malone’s Mate), Charlotte Payne (Mystique Bay) and Vicky Lawrence (Joan) were clear in the first round but totalled 12 faults in the second round, putting them in fifth place.

In the Senior competition, the Sevenoaks team of Anna Lawrence (Dibley), Sara Roberts (Padstow Bay), Pat Temple (Florentine) and Sarah Crookenden (Teddy) tied after two round with teams from Maidstone and Ardingly, all on zero scores.

Sr Novice Team & Di Baker

On previous form, Ardingly were the fancied team in a timed jump off; especially as two of the Sevenoaks horses had a reputation for being careful rather than fast. Nevertheless, after all three teams jumped again, Maidstone were in third place, having incurred faults and Sevenoaks was just ahead of Ardingly on combined times,   both clubs still on zero scores.
