Autumn Hunter Trial

Sponsored by Allways Couriers

Redlands - 1st October

Despite the occasional downpour, we enjoyed reasonable weather and very good going over the day.

It proved a very successful day for owner and breeder, Christina Young. Her nineteen year old mare, Here Comes Trouble, ridden by Kirsty Young, won Novice Section A with the only clear round spot on the optimum time. In equal third place in the same section, just two seconds outside the optimum time, came the mare’s offspring, Electric Blue, ridden by Emma Jones and in equal sixth place was Charles Young riding another of his mother’s horses, Kiss Of Gold. Charles and Emma had already taken third place in the Pairs.

Alice & Ludo

The other two third places in Section A went to Jan Ames on Marley’s Cassanova, and Charlotte Phillips and Lenny. Her sister Lucinda Phillips pipped her by one second to take second place on Taz.

Philippa Howe proved that she can ride as well as she drives, winning Novice Section B on Noble. Second place went to Amie Pooke and Purdie and there was another tie for third place between Drew Davy on Merlin and Emma Dunster-Price on Roscoe.

Congratulations were offered to Ulrika Kelly, formerly Frolander, on her recent marriage as she sailed round the Open course to win with a clear round on Daddy’s Girl just 4 seconds outside the optimum time. Close on her heels came Vicky Lawrence and King Louis.

There were only five clear rounds in the open; the coffin and the new trakehner causing the majority of the jumping penalties.Jo Lambourne & Soleil Rouge

The event ran due to the heroic efforts of all concerned as we had about half the helpers necessary to run the Hunter Trials comfortably. We are really grateful to everyone who helped on the day.
