Area Show Jumping &
Equitation Jumping Qualifier |
Felbridge - 2nd July |
Sevenoaks and Bradbourne, several of whose team
are also SRC members, took part in the Show Jumping and Equitation Jumping Area Qualifier
held at Felbridge, Surrey.
Despite some good performances from horses and
riders, only one team from the two clubs qualified for British Riding Clubs
Championship to be held at Lincoln County Showground in September; Sevenoaks Junior
Equitation Jumping team.
First placed individual, Laura Reeves (Hedera Hat)
and third placed Alice Burgess (Cracker), with Lily Gilbert (Lenamore Coco Chanel) and
Emma Galpin , were judged on the style of their jumping as well as their performance.

|
There were individual fourth places for two other Sevenoaks riders; Emma
Howard (Mouse), in Junior Novice Show Jumping and Vicky Rees (Market Design) in Senior
Equitation Jumping.
With over ninety riders taking part
in the Senior Novice show Jumping class, two grandmothers gained individual places. Pat
Temple (Florentine) representing Sevenoaks RC, was second and Janet Phillips (Silvern
Conetta) was third. Janets double clear in the first two rounds helped Bradbourne RC
to the second team place with Carole Cook (Budding Annie), Lynn Bright (Max), and Jill
Cufley (Naomi).

|
The Bradbourne team were unlucky not to gain a
place in the Championships as had there been twenty-one teams, rather than twenty
competing at Felbridge, the top two teams would have qualified. As it was, only Ardingly
RC, the winning team, will go through to Lincoln.
Bradbournes other Senior Novice team, Annie
Etherington (Jasmine), who was sixth individually, Polly Thomas (Figaro), Marissa Turner
(Dannys Limmerick) and Carole Cook (Finnigan), came sixth.
Sixth was also the placing for Sevenoaks
Intermediate Show Jumping team of Jo Thomas (Dubonnet), Sara Roberts (My Harry), Lara
Reddy (Bullands Jorham) and Jenny Mills (Grey Fly).
