Dressage, Show Jumping & Combined Training

Redlands, 16th June

Sponsored by Udimore Farm Tack Store & Ibbett Mosely

Well the weather wasn’t quite as bad as in May – at least there was sunshine in the middle of the day. That was probably of no comfort to the riders in the Walk and Trot class who were soaked to the skin, but they all managed a smile at the end.

Sam Paxton was unlucky to have the worst of the weather at both shows but it didn’t stop her winning the Novice Combined Training on both occasions.

A large Prelim 10 class was won by Jan Knights on Bonney Bere. Jan, who only recently joined the club, has been placed in all the Prelims at the May and June Shows – so June Burgess will want her in next year’s dressage teams. Claudia Graham & Dubonnet, Jan Knights & Bonny Bere.JPG (1267473 bytes)

Prelim 14 was won by Claudia Graham, who was seeing how she got on with the Talbot’s Dubonnet. Pretty well, it seemed!

Both Novice 30 and Elementary 44 were won by Eleanor Comer on Climate, who was only brought to the show as his field companions weren’t there. Usually well behaved out, he becomes a lunatic if he spots Radscha or Jack – but they were saving themselves for Area Dressage next day.

It might have been the weather or the show being held on a Saturday, but show jumpers were in short supply. However a return to sunshine in the late afternoon encouraged them to give the Intermediate and Open a go. Brendon Cogley won the Intermediate with Vital Oak and the Open was won by Jo Thomas on Kruja Roslyn, with Sally Pugmire second. Earlier, Jo had a convincing win in the novelty class Top Score.

Ronnie and Joanna want to thank everyone who helped, especially those who got wet doing it!
