REPORT

Area 10 Indoor Show Jumping Friendly, Eaglesfield Equestrian Centre

21st February 2010

Teams from two Sevenoaks clubs contested the top slot at the Indoor Show Jumping this year. The friendly competition for clubs from Kent, Sussex and Surrey is a regular feature of the winter calendar. The teams of three consist of a novice rider on any horse and a novice horse with any rider jumping at 2ft 6in and an open combination jumping at 3ft.

Sevenoaks

Of the senior teams, only one Sevenoaks team and Bradbourne had three clear rounds each and so it was left to the open riders, both on nippy ponies, to decide the contest in a jump-off on a raised course against the clock.

Jo Thomas (Kruja Roslyn), for Sevenoaks, had another clear round. In trying to beat her fast time, Janet Phillips (Silvern Conetta) riding for Bradbourne, was unlucky to have a pole down, giving Sevenoaks its fourth successive win in the senior competition.

Claudia Graham (Dubonnet) and Sara Roberts (Camponile) were the other Sevenoaks riders. Carole Cook (Budding Annie) and Gill Cufley (Naomi) rode for Bradbourne.

Fourth out of the twenty-one senior teams were Sevenoaks riders, Vicky Grimshaw (Cleopatra), Pat Temple (Florentine) and Kelly Elton (Dancing Jack).

Sevenoaks juniors Charlotte Payne (Connor), Eleanor Wilson (Malone’s Mate) and Jess Dennett (Minnie) were placed fifth out of thirteen teams in the junior competition.

Jo Thomas (Kruja Roslyn) and junior rider Charlotte Payne (Mystique Bay) had success earlier in the day when they both qualified to be area representatives in the Intermediate “Top Score” at this year’s Royal Windsor Horse Show.

In the junior warm-up class, a 2ft 6in scurry, Eleanor Wilson (Malone’s Mate) was second, Jess Dennett (Minnie) came third and Kate Stell (Shabraks Gem Of Colebank) was fourth. Sara Roberts (Camponile) were third in the senior scurry.
